StreetCare

HPLS staff and StreetCare members in the NSW Parliament with Jenny Leong MP.

StreetCare supports people with lived experience of homelessness to be effective advocates to achieve better outcomes for people experiencing or at risk of homelessness.

SInce 2009, StreetCare has been instrumental in improving laws, policy and practice that impact people who are homeless or facing housing insecurity in NSW.

StreetCare advises the NSW Government, academics and housing and homelessness sector organisations, through forums including the Department of Communities and Justice’s Rough Sleeping Taskforce and the End Street Sleeping Collaboration.

StreetCare members provide training and consultation for government and service providers on how to engage with people disadvantaged by homelessness or housing insecurity, so they are treated with dignity and respect.

The value of including people with lived experience in policy and practice is becoming more broadly recognised. StreetCare’s expertise is increasingly in demand by law- and policy- makers, as well as sector organisations looking to develop and deliver their own Lived Experience Frameworks.
