The Public Interest Advocacy Centre invites you to join us with MC Craig Reucassel and special guest speaker Julia Baird at the 2019 Social Justice Dinner in celebration of PIAC’s work with our partners and supporters.
The Social Justice Dinner is also PIAC’s main fundraising event to support our work to create systemic change by tackling barriers to justice for people who are vulnerable and facing disadvantage. Guests will be offered the opportunity to win some fabulous silent auction prizes or make a tax-deductible donation.

Keynote speaker: Dr Julia Baird
Julia is a journalist, broadcaster, columnist and political commentator. She currently hosts The Drum on ABC TV. She is a columnist for the Sydney Morning Herald and the New York Times. She has a PhD in history and is a former fellow at the Joan Shorenstein Center on Media Politics and Public Policy at the Kennedy School, Harvard, and spent several years working in New York as a columnist and deputy editor of Newsweek. In 2016, she published Victoria, her critically acclaimed biography of Queen Victoria.
Master of ceremonies: Craig Reucassel
Craig is an Australian writer and comedian who is best known for his work with The Chaser and for going through your bins on War on Waste. He has appeared in a swathe of TV programs including The Election Chaser, CNNNN, The Chaser’s War on Everything, Yes We Canberra and the satirical consumer affairs show The Checkout. Craig has a Bachelor of Economics (Social Science) and Bachelor of Laws from the University of Sydney gathering dust somewhere.
