An advocacy course for beginners
This nationally recognised one-day training course will help you understand how ‘the system’ works and how you can participate in and influence decision-making at all levels of government. It helps both individuals and communities develop the knowledge and skills to be effective advocates. There are no prerequisites for attending this training.
Cost: The course fee is $220, no GST payable.
Discount: The discount course fee is $110, no GST payable.
PIAC offeres a 50% discount if you receive a Centrelink pension, benefit or a have a health care card and are paying for yourself. Please provide a photocopy of your benefit card. PIAC will not use this information for any purpose except determining your eligibility for the discounted training rate.
The cost includes a comprehensive booklet of materials, morning and afternoon tea, a certificate of attendance and assessment.
Assessment: Once you have completed the training course you can gain recognition of your skills by completing an assessment against nationally recognised units of competence. Assessment is not compulsory. The cost of assessment is included in the course fee.
PIAC is a Registered Training Organisation under the Australian Quality Training Framework. PIAC is registered by the NSW Vocational Education and Training Accreditation Board to deliver training, conduct assessment, and issue the training qualifications Provide systems advocacy services CHCAD603A and Provide advocacy and representation services CHCAD504A.
Confirmation of Registration
- An online sign up or completed registration form is required for all participants. Registrations are processed in order of receipt.
- Payment is due 14 days after registration.
- If payment is not received within 14 days, your registration may be cancelled to make way for those waiting for a place.
- Registration will be confirmed by mail when payment is received. Venue and other details will be provided with confirmation of registration.
Terms and Conditions
- Please let us know as soon as possible if you need to cancel, transfer to another date or nominate a substitute. (Substitute delegates are always welcome at no extra cost).
- For cancellations more than 7 days before the training, fees will be refunded minus $22 (incl GST) administrative fee. Alternatively, you can be transferred to a workshop on another date within 3 months (if places are available) for no cost, provided at least 7 days notice is given. Refunds and transfers cannot be made for cancellations less than 7 days before the training or if you do not attend the course on the day.
