This one-day training course provides an introduction to advocacy, and how you can advocate for your issues to government. Participants will have the opportunity to plan an advocacy campaign around a real issue from their work.
Presenters: Both the above courses are presented by former PIAC Training Co-ordinator Carolyn Grenville, with other PIAC staff.
Cost: $240 per course, no GST payable (or $120 if you are paying for yourself and receive a Centrelink pension, benefit or a health care card, photocopy only required; PIAC will not use this information for any purpose except determining your eligibility for the discounted training rate).
Assessment: You can gain recognition of your skills by completing an assessment against nationally-recognised units of competence. Assessment is not compulsory. The cost of assessment is included in the course fee.
PIAC is a Registered Training Organisation under the Australian Quality Training Framework. PIAC is registered by the Australian Skills Quality Authority to deliver training, conduct assessment, and issue the training qualifications Provide systems advocacy services CHCAD603A and Provide advocacy and representation services CHCAD504A.
The Provide Systems Advocacy Services competency from the Community Services Training Package is about advocating to ensure the rights and needs of particular interest groups are maintained within the broader rights and needs of the general community. The Provide Advocacy and Representation Services competency is about representing the interests of the community.

Registrations are processed in order of receipt. After you have registered, an automatic acknowledgement email, with venue and course times, will be sent to your email address. An invoice / receipt will then be posted to your mailing address.
Payment is due 14 days after registration. If payment is not received within 14 days, your registration may be cancelled to make way for those waiting for a place.
Terms and Conditions
Please let us know as soon as possible if you need to cancel, transfer to another date or nominate a substitute. (Substitute delegates are always welcome at no extra cost.)
For cancellations more than 7 days before the training, fees will be refunded minus a $22 (incl GST) administrative fee. Alternatively, you can be transferred to a workshop on another date within 6 months (if places are available) for no cost, provided at least 7 days’ notice is given. Refunds and transfers cannot be made for cancellations less than 7 days before the training or if you do not attend the course on the day.
