Abstract

This article revisits the challenges faced by Aboriginal people in NSW who are seeking to recover their unpaid wages and other entitlements from the Aboriginal Trust Fund Repayment Scheme. It explains the impact of the recent changes to the Scheme’s guidelines on the rights of claimants and highlights that while some progress has been made towards ensuring the Scheme operates in a manner which is fair and transparent, there is still a long way to go in ensuring that the NSW Government fulfils its promise to reimburse Aboriginal people the money rightfully owing to them.
