Abstract

PIAC made a short submission to the NSW Law Reform Commission in response to its discussion paper Privacy and Access to Personal Information. In this submission PIAC argued that that it would be more consistent with the respective objects of the privacy and freedom of information legislation for access to, and amendment of, one’s own personal information to be dealt with under the Privacy and Personal Information Protection Act 1998 (NSW), and for requests for all other information, including personal information about a third party, to be dealt with under the Freedom of Information Act 1989 (NSW).
