Abstract
This submission responds to the Australian Government’s announcement of a national consultation on human rights protection. In order to ensure the active involvement of homeless people in this process, HPLS held a series of consultation workshops that were conducted jointly with Milk Crate Theatre. The comments, ideas and stories HPLS received at these consultation events are included in HPLS submission. HPLS submission recommends that Australia adopt a Human Rights Act to protect the human rights of disadvantaged groups (such as homeless people) and that this Act protect Economic, Social and Cultural Rights as well as Civil and Political Rights.
