Advocate for Clients
This unit is based on CHCAD401D Advocate for clients from the CHC08 Community Services Training Package. The workshop is particularly targeted at people working in the disability sector, and people with disability, and will be presented in partnership with the Multicultural Disability Advocacy Association of NSW.
The workshop will give participants the relevant skills and knowledge to support clients to voice their opinions and needs, and to ensure their rights are upheld.
The course covers:
- Taking a non-judgemental approach to working with people with disability
- Consumer rights
- What is advocacy, and types of advocacy
- Effective advocacy skills with, and on behalf of, clients
- Legislation relevant to people with disability
- Services available for people with disability
Participants who want to have their skills formally recognised can complete an assessment. More information will be available at the course. Cost of assessment is not included in this training.
